The last time I worked out the value of One Drone - the amount the government can expect to rake in from one minimum wage worker in one year – it was £1,816.19.
That was at 2009 values. Let us roughly adjust for 2013 to £2,000 to make the calculation easy.
Which means that 10 drones have worked full time for a year to pay for – what exactly?
Erm, the storage charges on 40,000 mobile phones.
Why is the government storing 40,000 mobile phones?
Because they can’t sell them.
Why can’t they sell them?
Because they have all been retrieved from ‘orifice searches’.
Yes, 40,000 Dwayne’s and Mohammed’s and Kieran’s currently in prison have had their backsides x-rayed and been found to contain a mobile phone…(is this lowering the ring tone?)
And ten of you have had to work for an entire year to pay for the safe custody of a shed full of shitty Vodophones.
Ministers are supporting a Bill which would allow the destruction of the phones, with Jeremy Wright, the Prisons Minister, saying it was “totally unacceptable that prisons have had to pay for storing these items”.
Not half as unacceptable as taxpayers having to stump up the money to allow them to do so.

Perhaps this is a simplistic way of looking at things but if you are having to pay these companies to shut down because they are creating too much electricity doesn't it stand to reason that they weren't needed in the first place or at the very least shouldn't have been built until the national grid had been upgraded with increased storage capacity? noooo:
This weather is supposed to last for the next month or so, are you going to keep making payments or was this just a one off?

You are still expecting the taxpayer to fork out for a vanity project that costs almost as much as some people earn in a year. Lets look at Bercow the poison dwarf for example - £22000 for the painting with a further £15000 for the frame including the creation of a fucking coat of arms. Its the 21st century for crying out loud, why the hell does that repellent worm need a bleeding coat of arms?
Now as it is blindingly obvious that you live in an ivory tower and have little or no idea about how people live in the real world I'll help you by putting that into perspective, the average salary for a newly qualified band 5 nurse is somewhere in the region of £21000. His vanity project would have almost paid for an entire years wage for 2 nurses, and that is a resource that our overworked health service desperately needs.

So Sue Berelowitz, the child protection boss who not only failed to raise the alarm about sexual abuse by Pakistani gangs but can arguably be accused of covering the whole thing up takes 'voluntary redundancy' and gets a £134k payout only to be given a new job the next day being paid £960 a day as a consultant in charge of the inquiry into abuse by a family she had been in charge of in her old role.
She caused controversy in 2012 when she wrote a report in the wake of high-profile abuse cases in Rochdale and Rotherham denying there was a growing number of Asian grooming gangs.
Despite finding that more than a quarter of perpetrators known to the authorities were Asian, Miss Berelowitz said there was no evidence to conclude that there was a particular issue with Asian gangs.
Instead, her report – branded ‘hysterical’ and ‘highly emotional’ – said simply that abuse is carried out by men of all backgrounds.

Oliver Berman, of the Office of the Children’s Commissioner, said: ‘Taking on Sue Berelowitz as a consultant for a limited number of days for a limited time to chair a highly sensitive inquiry into child sexual abuse linked to the family environment was allowable because of the importance and sensitivity of the work and because of Sue’s particular expertise in this area.’
The quango says that the move to offer redundancy will save it £164,000 a year.
Her particular expertise? If you wanted someone who was an expert in sticking their head in the sand and talking absolute bollocks about a hugely important and sensitive issue then yes you have found the ideal candidate. If on the other hand, you want to make sure that similar gross negligence is avoided in future without resorting to the standard government refrain of 'lessons will be learned' then you should get rid of her and get someone in who can be trusted do the job properly instead of putting her own agenda ahead of protecting vulnerable children.
And as for the redundancy offer saving £164k a year let's be honest, if it was a private company and someone had made that serious a cock up they would most likely be looking at dismissal for gross misconduct so don't you dare try and spin this as a money saving exercise you sycophantic cretin! However if you truly believe that you have made the correct choice then you can tell the families of the victims of her bias and ineptitude in person, I'm sure they will see your point of view and not have an urge to beat the living shite out of you.

The problem is in the payout decision not the rehiring on a day rate. By paying people off to go quietly (and esp to be quiet about other incompetence/wrong doing in the dept) the shite has a clean record. And so MUST be considered as a fair candidate for any day rate work.
The paying off of duds and dosgies practice was perfected by the police over many years, any chance of them investigating is slightly less likely than us finding the world really is flat

My issue is that they are using in insane amount of journalists and support staff to cover a conference where they are likely to outnumber the attendees, at the licence payers expense while at the same time bleating on about how they no longer have the money to 'continue the service as is'.

I can't see why a request for a vicar on your death bed to tell you everything is going to be okay should be paid for by other taxpayers - including those who don't believe or believe in a different system...? Surely, the vicar should be paid from the subs you have contributed every week as a regular church goer or from your estate if you are a last minute convert...?
You could have a ridiculous scenario where somebody is denied taxpayer funded life extending drugs because NICE says they are unaffordable but is provided with a tax payer funded vicar when they die because of it....

We'll have to agree to disagree BM. I will say that when my father died the very last thing on my mind was a priest but then I'm agnostic with little time for organised religions. But a lot of people are religious and the practicality of that is it may be a lot cheaper for a hospital to guide them to a room with someone that can handle their emotions than have them getting in the way of medical staff

I have nothing against the trans community, if you feel that having a sex change is the only way you can feel comfortable in your own skin the best of luck to you, but it is a cosmetic change only. There is no reproductive functionality in male to female and one of the first surgical procedures for female to male transition is a hysterectomy so unless something went drastically wrong with the procedure pregnancy is no longer possible Banghead
