Don't get me wrong, I loved the Harryhausen films as well but the cheesiness of the Godzilla/Mothra/whatever the hell the turtle was called movies always appealed to me.

MI6 Fallout

Could be the best yet of the Mission Impossible franchise.  Even if you don't like Cruise the film just works all the way through.  Pacey, witty, very good action and a fair old yarn of a plot.  Cruise is as ever just right for that role and the supporting cast esp Cavill, Pegg, Kirby and Rhames excellent as well

If you only want cerebral films it's not for you, otherwise go see

Was curious about this film when it was first announced, right up to the point where I found out that they had got rid of Henry Coxwell (a record breaking balloonist at the time who was on the actual balloon flight with Glaisher and was instrumental in averting a catastrophe mid flight by releasing a trapped valve when the balloon ascended so high up that they began to pass out) and replaced him with some random female character instead.

Still on the subject of Star Wars, there is a fan re-edit of the godawful mess that was Episode 8 in the works and if the trailer is anything to go by then it's going to be a better piece of work than the original (then again that isn't really shooting for the sky).
