Why is this happening to me?
« on: July 30, 2007, 10:48:07 AM »
Nick is in Canada so I cannot blame him however:
Over the weekend the kitchen ceiling ~ you will recall it was re-plastered last week ~ has dried out and at 0715 hours today a man turned up to paint it and the associated walls. He is, as I type, still at it (now on third coat he tells me).
Meanwhile last week the new (3 months old cooker) ceased to function. The main oven is fine but all rings and top oven have no power to them. Obviously I have rung the supplier who is sending a man .... but not until Thursday ~ three children to be fed in the meantime and it is hardly the weather for BBQ's every day.
This morning the Chimney Sweeps have arrived for their annual clean through (those without open fires may not be aware of the need to obtain a Chimney Sweep's Certificate annually for insurance purposes and to avoid being charged by the Fire Service if you have a chimney fire).
The people contracted to supply and fit the new boiler and oil storage tank, having finally accepted that they do not need to comply with English regulations, have phoned to say they are on their way to "measure up" ~ though how they did their quotation without the measurements I cannot imagine.
So in summary there is a man slapping white paint up in the kitchen, Two chimney sweeps covering the whole place in soot, a surveyor wanting to access the kitchen to measure for the boiler and three hungry children who want to go to McShites for their lunch.
And now the f***ing log man has turned up with a trailer full of Ash logs which I asked for weeks ago and he promised to deliver "as soon as they are dry enough"!
Meanwhile SWMBO has gone out!

Snoopy is not alone!

I am fighting a Court case for someone I hardly know because his English is useless and I felt the need to help,  it is deteriorating by the hour as all the misunderstandings of nine months pour out of the woodwork to compete for my attentions and all I am getting from him is "Allah will repay you indeed!" !!

 ::)

What is the matter with me?  Like I haven't got enough problems of my own, I should have guessed when he couldn't get a solicitor to deal with it...

Since my last post I have had a bill from the Sweeps (?90 for 30 minutes work!!!)
A phone call from a neighbour to say was I aware that there was a man she had seen coming in and out of my back door (He's the painter).
A lady from the other end of the road has 'phoned to ask if we could use a couple or three pounds of Red Currants as she has too many for her own use and a local councilor has rung the door bell to give me a pound of runner beans from his garden. Whilst thanking him another councilor appeared at the gate to say he has tried growing cucumbers in his greenhouse this year but neither he nor his wife eat cucumber (No I can't work it out either) so would I like to take some off his hands.
SWMBO has returned and has been stopped, at the gate, by a lady whose bees "graze" on our lavender bushes. We have a supply of local honey now on route.
Meanwhile the painter has just made me a cup of tea!!!!

Lovely?

Think adoption might still be an option.

I am in trouble as the wind tore down two of Mr Wench's tomato plants. How it is my fault I am still unsure.

Your wind perhaps? Think back ~ what did you have to eat over the weekend?

"A Man" has fixed the cooker ~
telling me in the process that "It's all down to the way they're made these days"   Angry9:

I still await the man to fix the kitchen lighting.
