Nick is in Canada so I cannot blame him however:
Over the weekend the kitchen ceiling ~ you will recall it was re-plastered last week ~ has dried out and at 0715 hours today a man turned up to paint it and the associated walls. He is, as I type, still at it (now on third coat he tells me).
Meanwhile last week the new (3 months old cooker) ceased to function. The main oven is fine but all rings and top oven have no power to them. Obviously I have rung the supplier who is sending a man .... but not until Thursday ~ three children to be fed in the meantime and it is hardly the weather for BBQ's every day.
This morning the Chimney Sweeps have arrived for their annual clean through (those without open fires may not be aware of the need to obtain a Chimney Sweep's Certificate annually for insurance purposes and to avoid being charged by the Fire Service if you have a chimney fire).
The people contracted to supply and fit the new boiler and oil storage tank, having finally accepted that they do not need to comply with English regulations, have phoned to say they are on their way to "measure up" ~ though how they did their quotation without the measurements I cannot imagine.
So in summary there is a man slapping white paint up in the kitchen, Two chimney sweeps covering the whole place in soot, a surveyor wanting to access the kitchen to measure for the boiler and three hungry children who want to go to McShites for their lunch.
And now the f***ing log man has turned up with a trailer full of Ash logs which I asked for weeks ago and he promised to deliver "as soon as they are dry enough"!
Meanwhile SWMBO has gone out!
