Get it ordered on Amazon man - before Snoopy comes on here and talks you out of it!  lol:

Why would he do that?
Is there summat you're not telling me like? Praying on the ignorant?   rubschin:

Any 'ow, you didn't answer me questions before. ::)
What do I do with me existing box/vid/dvd thing?

Can I still leave it plugged in under and into the telly and just use it for me vids and dvd's like, or am I going to have to fiddle and fart around unplugging and replugging with all these twatish leads plugs and wires every time I wanna watch summat pre-recorded?
The telly weighs abot 4000 tons, so I really don't want to be moving it out all the time.

Or do you have to ask Mrs. Growler for permission first...?  whistle:

 evil:

NO! Don't do permission.

Off you go then...  whistle:

You know if you go to a store they'll have a different model... then they'll spin you some line about the one you really want being too large/small/noisy/quiet, etc. and you'll be confused because your personal advisers Miss D and myself aren't available then you'll prolly punch the guy in the shop and end up in prison like...

Prolly...  redface:

I like to see what I'm buying, and get a demo like, just so i know I'm gonna be all comfy (ish) with it, albeit with MUCH RESENTMENT!! Angry9:

Well it won't play and DVD's  / videos that you have already recorded  so if you still want that facility you will leave it there

Get some of these

and then you won't have to be switching stuff around all the time

Of course not...  noooo:

Snoopy won't recommend anything he hasn't got himself is all...  whistle:

As for the other thing... well, you can still use it to play DVDs - there will be a connector on the back of the PVR or the telly (a SCART connector ) which you can use for that purpose...

Or stick it in the kids room as a spare like...

I haven't bought any techno-stuff in a shop for ages - last time I tried (the Sony shop in Windsor) the spazmongs behind the counter knew nothing about any of their products...

Calm down darling bear  it is not worth losing your fur over  happy100

You need to buy a new box to get digital TV

You have a number of choices all with pro's and cons

If you don't want to sign on a dotted line and commit yourslef to 18 months minimum you will at the very least need to get a new digibox thingy

There are some now that do exactly the same as sky + box but with only access to the Freeview channels or you can just get a basic box but this will not allow you to record and watch other channels which you have suggested has been a problem before

Your old box can still be used to watch VCR's and DVD's but you will need to add more scart sockets to the back of your TV instead of having to rejig it every time you want to use it

The choice and cost of a new box is down to you  and if you want to buy it from a shop Argos do the one I am suggesting

Lots of reviews on there as well which you may find of assistance
