I dunno. I'm bamboozled.  confused:
Don't need all this. I luv anaoluge. sad32:

To say nothing of losing analogue radio in a few years time too.

I'm trying to figure out what DAB+ is  rubschin:

An upgraded version of the DAB system was released in February 2007, which is called DAB+. DAB is not forward compatible with DAB+, which means that DAB-only receivers will not be able to receive DAB+ broadcasts. DAB+ is approximately twice as efficient as DAB due to the adoption of the AAC+ audio codec, and DAB+ can provide high quality audio with as low as 64kbit/s. Reception quality will also be more robust on DAB+ than on DAB due to the addition of Reed-Solomon error correction coding.

Australia, Italy, Malta and Switzerland have started transmitting DAB+ stations. Hungary is due to launch DAB+ stations in 2008 and Germany is planning to launch DAB+ in 2009. The radio industry in the UK is expecting DAB+ stations to launch between 2010 and 2013.

But I know nothing technical ~ ask anyone, they'll tell you  ::)

Certainly not, never was, as I am always the first to admit ~ But it pales into insignificance when compared to your ability to lose friends.  point:

Hmmm. Yes.

And what's the reach of DAB, DAB+ ?  E.g. does it "drop off" off shore like FM which is why they use LW for shipping forecasts etc?

Believe me. I'm a Bear in the know. IT IS crap.

I presume we're all going to have to change our car radios in 2015 now too, thieving scheming bastards. cussing:

Car radios; that's another one I was thinking about  noooo:. Plus, there's the FM radio on me phone, although the chances of me having the same phone in 6 years time is slim.

I'd heard somewhere that rather than FM for example being axed it'll be used for local stations which, round here means it's going to be bubble 'n' squeakFM, PolskiFM, RastaFM, the local gangFM, etcFM .... and so on  ::)

If you don't want to subscribe to cable / sky etc have you considered one of these ?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Humax-PVR9300T-320GB-Twin-Tuner/dp/B00272N9PC

Freeview, records programs / series of prgrams , playback etc.

There is a smaller sized one at 160 GB that will prolly cost just over ?100  and then that's it a one off payment and no more

Had a sniff at some that the Asda are selling last night.

Sagem.
Seem to get fairly good customer reviews, albeit some complain that they are a bit noisy.
Maplin are selling recon. units for about ?50.

The only advantages of getting one of these, is that you can record ....like we virtually used to be able to do ::)
Please tell me pray WHY the bloody hell you'd want the feature of being able to watch 2 programmes at the same time?
I can just imagine me wanting to watch a programme about my colleauges on the polar ice cap whilst Mrs G and the Mini Moose are wanting to watch Corry on a split screen.
HOW TF does THAT werk then ey, go on, tell me, cus I'm totally bollxed if I can werk it out chief, and that's just watching it!
What about sound ffs?!! noooo:

I'm extremely pissed off about all this. The manufacturers have been very clever, stitching us all up with these crappy freeview boxes, and now doing the same with the + boxes, rancid scheming money grabbing gets. cussing:

The real advatntage of having two tuners is that you can watch one programme while recording another....

On the Sky box (and probably on others) you can record two programmes (as it has two tuners) while watching a third that you have previously recorded. You can also 'series link' where it records an entire series of programmes even if they are delayed by a party political broadcast or the snooker running late...

Also, you can pause live TV - if the phone rings, just hit pause, the screen freezes and you can rsume from where you are when you are ready.

And of course you can zoom through the adverts on recorded programs.

Exactly ....no monthly subs

records TV ( on a hard drive - no DVD's or video tapes required )

lets you watch another program whilst recording

Gives you your freeview channels

easy to use

The Mooses will be happy

no need for dish

The least disruptive and prolly more cost effective option if you don't want to have to spend on minimum subscription to other providers

But whadda I know  lol:

Will this plus box give me any more channels than this existing one I've got?

I'd really like to be able to get the Discovery channel. Not really interested in the others though tbh, apart from that 'Gold' one..is it?
