I've always thought you had to be more than a little cracked to use services like Tinder. "I'll just trust what a complete stranger has told me online and meet up with them, nothing will go wrong" and all that  noooo:

How the hell have we come to this point, where free speech needs to be protected from cancel culture by a union. What the hell happened to common sense. The offence archaeologists and professionally offended should never have gained this much power.

I found it a hard read and defaulted to TLDR

The problem with free speech fundamentalism is that it's essentially bollocks especially in this day and age when it's so easy to cause real harm very quickly with ignorant or ill minded internet shite

John Stuart Mill had worked this out 150 years ago

HOWEVER

We have idiots like the police who as we saw yesterday have used legitimate free speech limits to persecute those they don't like

What we need is more common sense and legal liability for the likes of FaceBook not some stupid union
Well, whatever, nevermind

It's sarcasm and frankly she has a point the way the republicans have decided that women are to have no rights over their own wombs

Yes she has a point but so do the republicans, the reason the law was put in place in Alabama was in response to one proposed by Democrats in Virginia 2 months prior that remove restrictions so much that late term abortions would be possible up to the point of labour.

This quote is from an interview with the then Governor of Virginia, while the Republican response was a knee jerk one can you blame them after hearing something this horrific?

Quote
"When we talk about third-trimester abortions, these are done with the consent of obviously the mother, with the consent of the physicians, more than one physician, by the way," Northam said. "And it's done in cases where there may be severe deformities, there may be a fetus that's non-viable. So in this particular example, if a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen. The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that's what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother. So I think this was really blown out of proportion."

Now I've made this point before but if an infant has been resuscitated and made comfortable doesn't that indicate that it is viable and if you are talking about ending it's life after the birth then it jumps from abortion to infanticide. You can make the argument that Northam's spokesperson did that he didn't agree with infanticide but he is an experienced long term politician who would know better than to describe something so obviously polarizing in such a cavalier fashion.

https://www.vox.com/2019/2/1/18205428/virginia-abortion-bill-kathy-tran-ralph-northam

All this bill is likely to do is add to the increasing image that the Democrats now have of being at best idiots if not deranged. Something tells me that the more news articles like this that they generate the more likely that the 2020 election results are going to make Labour's wipe out look like a minor event. I can see them losing additional seats in the Senate as well as losing control of the House entirely.
