What's the likelihood they say "Bring it in and we'll do it for you. For about £200..."    noooo:

I am reminded of a tale from the 60's when "Tritons" (best of both, Triumph engine and Norton chassis) were very fashionable.

The eldest boy had a chum who came round on one and it fell over on the gravel and cracked a casting with the footrest and leaked like a stuck pig.

Being a kind chap, we put it on the trailer and took it to the local motorbike repair place.

The mechanic came out to look at the damaged Triton, only to fall about laughing and break the news to the lad that his pride and joy, bought for £50 from a man on a caravan site, was actually a "Norumph" made from the dodgy leftovers of a Triton genesis.  whistle:

Wot about Tribsa then?

They were fun.

Mind you, some guys I knew managed to squeeze a Jag 2.4 engine into a Norton frame. Not something I fancied riding.

Ace Classics advised me to put a 5/16th whitworth bolt in  whistle:

Job done.

The full workshop manual turned up today. £16.  A few months ago at a classic bike jumble at Kempton Park, I bought a little manual (below) -  for it for £4. I thought it would do for the basics. The "full workshop manual" is the same bloody thing, just in bigger font  Banghead
