Or hold the power switch down for 6 seconds til it powers off, disconnect the power and remove the battery and wait for a minute then reassemble and try powering up again

If success back up all your files

If no joy when it restarts press F2 (iirc) and it should give you self test options which will eventually say helpful things like your hard drive is dead and you've lost everything

Her housemates has just broken tonight

The Brat has picked up her laptop from Pc world after having it repaired.

Paid for the new keyboard and a battery replacement.

Got it back to her house..charged it up .started to work on  her outstanding work. Took plug out ..screen goes blank.

Laptop says no battery detected!!!

Got it back to her house..charged it up .started to work on  her outstanding work. Took plug out ..screen goes blank.

Just a thought but before you go ballistic on PC world take the battery out and place it back in again. I've seen a couple of incidents where for some reason the connectors don't and that sorts it.

Oh No ...i've gone ballisitc !!!!!

I am not opening it up and looking at wires etc.also I have paid for a new battery replacement and part of that service is to check the battery is in and connected !!!!

But I don't even think they have put a new one in as the receipt docket just states keyboard replacement. So they have effectively stolen a further £76 from me.

You can imagine how the conversation has gone this morning !!!!
