At my SiL's house all the condiments (salt, pepper, horse radish, mint sauce, mustard, apple sauce, etc.) are served with every meal and all are liberally spread over the food whatever is served....

We have friends who have mint sauce with any meat. Still, I would expect any relative of yours to be weirder than anyone I know.
