Mr C and I have had colds/chest infections and the like for the last couple of weeks.  We have of course struggled manfully on and not once have we mentioned it on Facebook. angel1

A week or so ago I developed earache having tried heat pads to no avail  I decided that bicarbonate of soda mixed with turmeric and warm water injected into my ear would do the trick. noooo: Shrugs: whacky115

If ever, dear reader, the same thought happens to pop into your head, please I beseech you to do all you can to banish the thought without acting upon it.

Take it from one who knows it does not work. sad24:

I suppose if you are really splitting hairs dissolving the skin and bone for where the tumour is and the surrounding area could be classed as a cure but I can't see many people wanting to try it.  eeek:

I hate to tell you guys but having looked at the actual transcript it tells a different story.

Quote
ACTING UNDER SECRETARY BRYAN:  Let me explain — if you look at the coronavirus as a chain with many links, what we’ve done through our study is we’ve identified some of the weak links in that chain, that the virus — the transmission of the virus depends upon.  We identified that heat and humidity is a weakness in that chain.  We’ve identified that sunlight, solar light, UV rays is a weakness in that chain.  That doesn’t take away the other activities — the guidance from the White House, the guidance from the CDC and others on the actions and steps that people need to take to protect themselves.

This is just another — another tool in our tool belt, right?  Another — another weapon in the fight that we can add to it and, in the summer, we know that summer-like conditions are going to create an environment where the transmission can be decreased.  And that’s an opportunity for us to get ahead.

Q    But I — just, can I ask about — the President mentioned the idea of cleaners, like bleach and isopropyl alcohol you mentioned.  There’s no scenario that that could be injected into a person, is there?  I mean —

ACTING UNDER SECRETARY BRYAN:  No, I’m here to talk about the findings that we had in the study.  We won’t do that within that lab and our lab.  So —

THE PRESIDENT:  It wouldn’t be through injection.  We’re talking about through almost a cleaning, sterilization of an area.  Maybe it works, maybe it doesn’t work.  But it certainly has a big effect if it’s on a stationary object.

Exactly, "and is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning" he's asking a question of his advisors not giving out advice. It's a double standard in the media that really pisses me off. Yes Trump has a history of saying some really stupid things but at least he can make entire sentences and hold a conversation. Biden has multiple instances where he clearly shows signs of dementia and CNN, MSNBC, the Washington Post, The New York Times et al go out of their way to protect him.

Anything but Trump!

Why do you think that Trump was able to make it into the White House in the first place. The Democrats have forgotten who they are supposed to be, even so more since the election when they lurched so far to the left that moderate democrats or centrists are now considered right wing. You say anything but Trump but can you not see how much of an absolute bloody disaster having Biden in the Oval Office would be. Even if you ignore his clearly deteriorating mental capabilities he's already been caught on tape not just admitting to but boasting of blackmailing the Ukrainian government to sack their special prosecutor when back he was Vice President.

Why? Because I want an unbiased news media? I have no problem with them going after Trump when he says or does something stupid as long as they do the same for the other side as well. If Biden alone wasn't enough what about Pelosi's Marie Antoinette moment? Delaying an increase to the stimulus package that would let people buy food for their families for purely ideological purposes and then having a slot on Corden's show where she stands in her multi million dollar home in front of 2 freezers that cost more than most blue collar workers earn in a year showing off her expensive ice cream collection while workers who were waiting for the wage protection money that she has blocked multiple times were forced to line up at food banks in lines so long they look like a fucking car park? How many news stations or papers covered that?

Try looking at what I've been saying again. I have no problem with the media going after Trump when he does something wrong but believe that the media should be unbiased that means also going after the Democrats when they do something wrong. Take a look at the major networks and tell me the last time that either CNN or MSNBC had Democrat politicians under the level of scrutiny that they have Trump under. Are there republicans I'd rather see in the Oval Office, certainly. Dan Crenshaw immediately comes to mind. I'd also love to see the Democrats learn from their mistakes and come back from the mess they are currently in but short of a miracle I can't see that happening.

Perhaps you slept through the coverage of the primaries

Trump is THE biggest politician in the USA, he's the source of so many and so dignificant a series of fuck ups and outright lies as he parrots the lines and lies Fox News gives him, he's getting fair attention for his enormous fuck ups despite his attempts to suppress the media

Despite his attempts to gerrymander the press conferences by giving prime slots to OAN.

So because he is the biggest politician in America then the Democrats should be coddled by the media?

Answer me this, if Trump had repeatedly blocked attempts to get payment protection to workers and then had an interview segment where he showed off his expensive kitchen and his freezer filled with high end ice cream how do you think the news networks would have reacted? So how come hardly any of them have reported this?

Would Trump have been given a free pass for creating a dossier on a political rival that was later proven to be false? Or for having a personal email server which was wiped when the FBI investigated it?

Biden was given a free pass for lying during the democratic primaries saying that Trump had refused Covid testing kits from the WHO, his exact words were "Look, the World Health Organization offered the testing kits that they have available and to give it to us now. We refused them. We did not want to buy them. We did not want to get them from them. We wanted to make sure we had our own,". And yet shortly afterwards when Margaret Harris, a spokesperson for organisation denied that was the case saying "No discussions occurred between WHO and CDC about WHO providing COVID-19 tests to the United States, this is consistent with experience since the United States does not ordinarily rely on WHO for reagents or diagnostic tests because of sufficient domestic capacity.". Did the broadcasters who had attacked Trump over this retract and apologise? Did they hell.

Or if you want a more serious example of the imbalance in news coverage compare Brett Kavanagh to Biden. Both have been accused of sexual misconduct yet where Kavanagh had weeks of coverage Biden gets his accusation pretty much swept under the rug.

Or you could look at Rachel Maddow's rabid drivel over the last couple of years. I doubt she even knows what impartial even means. Fox may have their issues with impartiality but at least they don't have anchors spouting utter garbage such as Russia possibly cutting off power and gas to Fargo during the winter during her unending rants about the Russia conspiracy. Not to mention the fact that there has been more than one occasion where she has delivered her segments with a joy that could almost be described as orgasmic. Does that sound impartial to you?

Or take a look at the Project Veritas investigation into CNN where they have staff admitting that Zucker wanted impeachment as the main if not only story regardless of whatever else was going on in the world.

Again I'm not saying that the media can't report on Trump but the news media has a responsibility to report what is going on both good and bad in an impartial and professional manner. Fox isn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination but when you look at CNN, MSNBC etc they are far more obvious in their political bias.

Biden was 'give a free pass'?  That's more untrue that what Biden actually said

https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2020/mar/16/joe-biden/biden-falsely-says-trump-administration-rejected-w/

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/us-coronavirus-test/

Here's CNN promptly saying Biden was mostly wrong on it https://edition.cnn.com/2020/03/15/politics/democratic-debate-fact-check/index.html

And remember Biden wasn't anything like totally wrong.  Trump had rejected WHO help on testing

Weird how some thing that someone who at the time was just one of umpteen candidates to be a candidate should be under same scrutiny as the president.  And a president that's now lying about his Dettol jabs lunacy telling everyone he was just joking with that "I was asking a question sarcastically to reporters like you just to see what would happen." and pretending he was only suggesting rubbing disinfectants on

He is far away the biggest shit and liar ever to hold top office in Western societies in our lifetimes.  And yes I do remember Nixon

Except saying that Trump rejected WHO help is at best disingenuous. The WHO listed seven different approaches towards virus testing which included teams from China, the United States, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, France and Germany and the UK — with each one using a different targeting separate parts of the virus genetic profile.

In cases of a major outbreak where there are multiple efforts globally to design a testing protocol, the WHO will usually adopt the what they feel is the best test that a research group brings forward although depending on circumstances this does not mean it is the best test for each individual country.

Now in this case the test that the WHO circulated as its preferred model was the German one but each country was free to use whatever approach it preferred. Plus even if the United States had picked the WHO’s protocol, it wouldn’t need them to sell it the required materials to follow it as Germany had already published the protocol details to the public. America decided to have the CDC develop its own on the basis of previous successes with creating SARS and MERS testing protocols, theirs was released just over a week later.

Now bear in mind that the WHO had announced on 4th Jan. that "there was a cluster of pneumonia cases – with no deaths – in Wuhan, Hubei province" and that the Chinese had only released the viral genetic sequence they had allowing work to start properly on a test on 12th Jan as up to that point the majority of the labs were still working on uncovering the base sequence themselves. Also it wasn't till the 22nd Jan that the WHO retracted a previous statement and announced that there actually was human to human transmission. Yes mistakes were made and the virus was initially underestimated and not only in America but you can't deny that GIGO was a significant factor there.

Before you say anything I am not defending Trump again, I'm well aware that he can be a belligerent arsehole, but consider this. Just how betrayed by the Democrats did rural and blue collar America feel to vote "the biggest shit and liar ever to hold top office in Western societies in our lifetimes" as you put it? And before you say that Hilary won the popular vote, the electoral college was put in place to a very important reason. That is, to make sure that EVERY state had a voice in choosing the president. Otherwise each election would be decided by 3 states by virtue of population alone denying the rest of the country a legitimate vote.

I will admit I'm surprised that CNN did end up amending their article once more information was uncovered by other reporters and impressed they actually admitted that they got it wrong rather then simply stealth editing the story as happens a lot these days.

But if I can look at Trump and admit that he is an extremely flawed person then how come you don't seem to be able to do the same when it comes to the Democrats?

If you put the words Nick and fire into the site search you get 13 PAGES of entries. Even if you factor a couple of pages worth that were just picked up by association that's still enough to elevate it to a really really REALLY bad idea.  scared2:

Best to use granules, that way the effect is delayed until you're actually in the meeting
