Ways I would rather not spend my time

The Maldon Mud race took place yesterday. Lots of photage on TV of people caked in cack  noooo:





One of the world's dirtiest sporting events  noooo: not  eyes:

The Maldon Mud Race was originally due to take place on 28 December but had to be postponed due to the extreme cold conditions.

Around 250 runners will tackle the 500-yard (457m) course across the bed of the River Blackwater.

The obscure Maldon Mud Race started in the 1970s when regulars of the Queen’s Head pub ran across the river to drink from a barrel of beer and then back to be hosed down by the landlady

Oh yes....but that is not public is it and it is all washed and massaged off and smells nice.

Not sludge from the bottom of some cess pit in Essex  noooo:

If those pictures are of David Hasselhoff and Jo Brand (?), I see it as two opportunities missed

I thought it was Joe Brand - I certainly wouldn't have pulled the fat, ugly biffa out if it was....  noooo:

People mostly do things like this to raise money for charity.

One could equally ask why anyone would dress up as a hippo and run a marathon.

I appreciate that but this does not appear to be for charity ....just for the hell of it. Because they can I guess - your kind of philosophy  ;)

In 2009 they raised over £22K

There is a whole day of events to go with it and safety marshals + local Lifeboat Crew etc to supervise.
