Bread is bread though basically. Some with nutty bits in, some without.
I won't be cooking any fancy pants stuff, no, just some simple bread to make me marmite soldiers with.
I still think cookin' a cake is going to be a possibilty.

Growler, I have good news.

Mine has a "cake" setting, and the recipe book has recipes for cakes. It doesn't just mix them, it bakes them too
Recipes are standard cake mix (looks like Victoria sponge from the ingredients), variations on this include adding cherries, adding mixed fruit, and adding chocolate chips. There are also recipes for Banana nut cake and apple & walnut cake

I've never tried any of them, but if they're half as successful as the bread, to quote you, "sweet as a nut"

A quick google shows there are plenty of other breadmakers that do this and many more recipes

Oh JOM. That is exceedingly good news, and will now hopefully shut all the doubters up, scoffing at me for even daring to suggest that this could be achieved.

I'm defo going to get one this autumn. Bread AND cake, fresh from the Growler kitchen!
