So ~ Two weeks down and How's he doing?
« on: July 14, 2007, 10:06:32 AM »
Gordon Brown ~ a good start or not?
He "seems" to be trying hard to demonstrate that he is going to follow a very different path to Tony Blair.
Speeches by his appointees are being analysed by the media as giving out messages to the US that things are changed.
He has certainly pre-empted the traditional Queens Speech and in that he has followed his previous track record of announcing budget matters well in advance and then re-announcing them several times over, each time as "new". Is that his plan for the legislative programme or was it simply to put down a marker for all those who were saying that he'll call an early election to secure his own mandate? (Personally I think he'll hang on to the levers of power as long as his bitten finger nails will allow)
Is he really the new face of old labour, the old face of new labour or something completely different?
Much more to the point will our lives be better or worse in a year's time?
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

He?s obviously not a fool (you can?t survive that long in politics by being one). He must have realised that the deck was stacked against him by the time he took over and would have to make radical changes to survive?

I guess only time will tell if we are seeing the real man or some ?spin? that he hopes will extend the effectiveness of his fingernails? My guess is actually the ?spin? option ? I think deep down he is old labour and would ideally be turning the clock rapidly backwards if he had a free hand.

The latest news "from informed sources" according to the BBC is that GB has written to all Cabinet Members reminding them of their responsibilities and the importance of the "Special Relationship" with the US of A.
Is he rowing for the shore? ~ Nah .... they did as they were bid in order for him to leak this "statement" today.

It's not politics ant more - it's bloody amateur dramatics in full flood.

Bugger the country, hows are the scorecard doing? And personal rave reviews are all that matters.
