Gordon Brown ~ a good start or not?
He "seems" to be trying hard to demonstrate that he is going to follow a very different path to Tony Blair.
Speeches by his appointees are being analysed by the media as giving out messages to the US that things are changed.
He has certainly pre-empted the traditional Queens Speech and in that he has followed his previous track record of announcing budget matters well in advance and then re-announcing them several times over, each time as "new". Is that his plan for the legislative programme or was it simply to put down a marker for all those who were saying that he'll call an early election to secure his own mandate? (Personally I think he'll hang on to the levers of power as long as his bitten finger nails will allow)
Is he really the new face of old labour, the old face of new labour or something completely different?
Much more to the point will our lives be better or worse in a year's time?
