But why didn't you drive?  eeek:

I'm thinking Badgers, Canoes, London Parking charges, M6, M5, Hereford (Cider drinkers)
Oh I'm sure there are lots of reasons and anyway one can work on the train thus making one's time more productive.
Several of us used to drive (commute) into town daily and held our sales meetings via mobiles on conference calls to save on time. Also used to do all letter writing via a dictation gadget in the car but nowadays such practice is frowned on and the train as a mobile office has some attractions ~ unless you are Nick when all that can go wrong will.

I omitted to mention that my carriage on teh way home was full of 14 year olds returning to Widnes after a "cultural" visit to London. Most of them seem to have spent the day in McDonalds

How did you get to Crewe and why return to Runcorn?

Why did you not get train from Crewe straight to London, ?12.50 one way if booked early and about an hour and 50 minutes?

Runcorn, makes Crewe appear nice.

Because I had to go to hereford.

OK?

And I went to Crewe on the Train from Runcorn (uneventfully)

You can get direct to London from Runcorn...

Nick now has a smaller carbon footprint and has delayed the flooding of his street by at least an hour.
If he plants a tree  on one of his many lawns that might buy him another 15 minutes.

In my Service days I was stationed at Hereford for two years. Train journey home involved Hereford to Pontypool Road there had to change to Newport train. At Newport change to Swansea - London line. Couldn't get the express there as I then had to change at Reading for Basingstoke and at Basingstoke change for Southampton. Since I travelled on a service rail warrant there was no changing the route either.

noooo: So I guess I no longer have an excuse to pop up to Hereford for another "Wild" meal, since it appears that you have already been and gone, you could have waved though, anytime whilst you were wallying around in Newport / Cardiff / Newport, or sitting waiting for the tunnel. Silly ass.  whistle:  If you had phoned, I could have come and pulled faces at you through the window, I know just where it stops.  point:
