I rarely turn anything off and prefer to do it 'live' like...

But the best advice would be to switch it off...

Surely a thermostat doesn't have 240v powering through it like a telly or summat, or am I looking at this the wrong way like?

I've taken the cover off and am currently looking at the 3 wires screwy in hand. It's so tempting. I could have it done in minutes I reckon. rubschin:

Having an implanted electrical device in my chest I turn off the mains to even change a bulb.

Thermostats, if mains powered, work on about 230 volts. Not worth the risk TBH

Most of the electrics in this house have a 30 minute time slot during which they don't need resetting if the power goes off. Over 30 mins and it's a major task to reset clocks etc.
