Mercedes your design is shite.

So yesterday I try to get in the car and get these messages (when I use the manual key to get in)

 

But worse they are accompanied by all sorts of symptoms incl car won't start, can't turn car off, rear doors and boot won't open.

The internet says try wiggling the passenger seat and hey presto it clears.  Also let me drive the car to the garage to drop it off for service, MOT and 'please look for this fault'

I bugger off to be phoned to say 'we can't move the car'  and then we call back in to find out that while they were hoping it'd clear the fault has drained the battery.

Somehow I don't think I'm getting the car back today and when I do it'll be £££ needed

Got no choice really, the actual battery is ~£200 from other vendors but then I'd have to get the car recovered from the workshop to fit it AND as the engine bay is chocker with the AMG engine it isn't as easy a change as it was on my Old Cortina.

So it was either scrap the car or credit card to the rescue.  I'd never get to own anything as fast and yet comfortable as this ever again so I said yes.
