A visit to the Planning Department
What are you planning on planning in the Planning Department?
I am considering purchasing a sewing machine. At least if I have one I can stitch the errant fingers on. I could chose where to put them......I can feel a VP Bride of Frankenstein filum coming on.
Three identical letters from the local Council have just arrived.
All announcing grants for remakes of old filums?
If only.
No power cuts here, you Steve? Nick? anyone?..........No thought not. He prolly cut through a wire or summat.

I'd just re-wired a bastard bedside light and tested it...
Having carefully glued the felt base back on I checked it and it didn't work!
Amid cries of 'you couldn't make it up' I ripped the base off the thing only to discover it was still perfectly wired but the power had gone off!

Get yourself a cheap circuit tester/meter (Anna Log) One of the best £10 I ever spent.
Cue BM saying he already has one
I already have one!

It was just one of those bizarre moments when you become convinced that technology is working against you...

The bulb exploded (literally) last night and buggered the lamp - it was one of those stupidly complicated 'touch' lamps with a dimmer...
So, I carefully removed the felt base this morning, then the plastic bottom (snigger), removed the burnt out circuit board and re-wired the whole lamp with a proper cable with a switch in it.
Tested it - perfect.
Applied contact adhesive to the base and felt and let it dry...
Pushed it together and smoothed it all down nice and neat like...
Then after that, put the shade back on and plugged it in to check that it was all okay...
And just then,
right fucking then the power must have gone off because it didn't work...
So I (naturally) assumed the technology gremlins had loosened a wire when i put the base back on - so i ripped it off again!
