I'd just re-wired a bastard bedside light and tested it...

Having carefully glued the felt base back on I checked it and it didn't work!

Amid cries of 'you couldn't make it up' I ripped the base off the thing only to discover it was still perfectly wired but the power had gone off!  cussing:
