Miss Walenski, a Pole piano teacher of great distinction who taught me in the late 60s early 70s.  Her house smelt of bees wax, she smelt of powder and lavender, she had a stunning metronome collection, seemed very wrinkly, positively ancient and impossibly elegant and knew how to wield a 12 inch wooden ruler with unerring accuracy and precision should one not have practised enough.
I have always thought that the worst thing about drowning was having to call 'help!' You must look such a fool. It's put me against drowning.
