Calm down darling bear  it is not worth losing your fur over  happy100

You need to buy a new box to get digital TV

You have a number of choices all with pro's and cons

If you don't want to sign on a dotted line and commit yourslef to 18 months minimum you will at the very least need to get a new digibox thingy

There are some now that do exactly the same as sky + box but with only access to the Freeview channels or you can just get a basic box but this will not allow you to record and watch other channels which you have suggested has been a problem before

Your old box can still be used to watch VCR's and DVD's but you will need to add more scart sockets to the back of your TV instead of having to rejig it every time you want to use it

The choice and cost of a new box is down to you  and if you want to buy it from a shop Argos do the one I am suggesting

Lots of reviews on there as well which you may find of assistance

Thanks MD. I'm slowly getting to know about this stuff now. It's very harrasing though, and I DO resent this expensive and what should be a totally unneccesary purchase.

I'm going out to fix a Ford Ka bumper now as i've had enuf of digi boxes, Ikea furniture building (with more waiting for me when I get home  ::) ) and this stupid oink that keeps coming in 'ere with his inane ramblings about some daft twat with a foreign accent playing his home made bag pipes. Banghead

Get it ordered on Amazon man - before Snoopy comes on here and talks you out of it!  lol:

Why would he do that?

I was wondering about that too.
In the end I put it down to a bit of name calling when my back was turned.

Am I to assume that it was the BIG analouge switch off today then, cus there's been absolutely diddly squat about it on the news. rubschin:

Comes home tonight to find all the analouge channels have now gone. evil:
By randomly pressing all the buttons on the remote for 10 minutes, I miraculously managed to get the digi box to retune itself! eeek:
BBC NW is now on channel 802 though, and all the othet regional stuff is in the 8 hundreds too.

BBC Taff Sheeps Today is now on channel 1, and the same for the others up to 5. Banghead

Any'ow, how can this all be classed as progress, when you can't record a programme unless you're watching it? Also you've now got to have both yer telly and digi box on at the same time.

Call this progress? noooo:
I tell you, it's all one great big con to get us all to buy more plus boxes/Sky/Virgin/Whatevers meaning more vat to the government, and of course, more leccy being used now too.

Disgusted but not suprised. cussing:

...and they talk odd too. ::)
Watched that Look Wales prog. tonight and was very very sad to see and hear that the Classic Car museum in Denbeigh has been burnt down, with the loss of several lovely motors.
Arson suspected.  cussing:

Great Train Robbers truck was one of the casualties apparently. sad32:

I never even knew the place existed tbh. Bit late to visit now sadly. cry:

You don't need the TV on to record so long as your TV/Video?DVD Recorder is tuned to AV and your digi box is tuned to the channel you want to record. What you can't do is watch one channel; and record another. Nothing says you can't turn the TV off and still record.

I know, I know  happy100

Much as I hate to say this ...... We have known this was coming since 2001. Plenty of time to get ready and buy the right equipment surely?

All you need to know about what to do, how to do it, what help is available, what equipment you need is here: http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/home

Does anyone give half a flamin' jot what's going to happen in ten years from now, ey, do they?
No. Banghead

I'm more concerned about this week, and if I'm actually going to survive it without killing someone, not worrying about some poxy half wiitted half baked, half thought through cock eyed useless cacky money making for the government scam. ::)

They're more clueless than me tbh.  ::)
At least I managed to get Beeb NW back tonight, and without the help of that gormless manual for people that are too scared to have a go too. happy088

I'll have another fiddle with the remote next week when I've got a bit more time to sit and think, oh, and press some buttons randomly like too.
