I am impressed. easy and fast install (clean install rather than upgrade).

Everything seems to work, only faster than Vista (XP has not been on this PC so cant compare it to that).

Will put it through its paces over the next couple of days but my first impression is that MS have got it right first time with this one. Which is a first in itself.

Some nice bells, whistles and flashing lights as well.

I have ordered a new laptop for SWWLTBO's main Christmas prezzy. Hoooge RAM, hooge memory, loooooooong battery life with Windows 7 installed.  scared2:

Before the Mac lobby starts she specifically did NOT want one although at the cost she could have had one.

I installed W7 on my laptop... I have to say I'm completely impressed and thinking of upgrading my PC now.

Driver support is incredible... it found drivers for all sorts of obscure stuff - a PCMCIA serial card, an old scanner I attached to it, our network printer and all  the bits 'n bobs built-in to the laptop.

10/10

I too have been impressed with madam's new laptop running Windows 7.

Can't be arsed to upgrade other machines though, too much faffing and expense just to gain a few nanoseconds, once our exchange is upgraded in 2020 or whenever it might be tempting........ Instead I shall wait until the PC needs replacement ~ as it surely will .... as for the boys laptops, no point as they too will need replacement sooner rather than later. The THW has a Mac anyway so the question doesn't arise (even though she is really p*ssed off that her mother now has a faster, sleeker and more efficient machine than she does)

Should I get one of these Windows 7 thingies?
I've got a dodgy copy of XP currently.

Will it help me like, and do I just lob the cd disc in to make it werk?
What happens to the XP then? Does it get wiped out by 7?

You have to start all over - install Windows 7 then all your programs again...

I like it... in fact I'm very impressed by it... but then I'm a techy-digi-nerd...

If XP does all you need I would leave it until they stop supporting it like...
