Barman’s Beautiful Brown Basil Bread
« on: March 18, 2009, 03:11:16 PM »
I have perfected this recipe and am willing to share it with you all...

1 teaspoon Allinson's Easy Bake Yeast
160g Waitrose strong wholemeal flour
360g Waitrose strong white bread making flour
2 dessert spoons olive oil
2 dessert spoons honey
1 teaspoon salt
1 large pinch dried basil
350ml warm water

Bung it in the bread maker on 'wheat' setting for about four hours.

Absolutely delicious....  cloud9:

We will try it and let you know. NOT TODAY!

Question from the kitchen staff: Are you sure you don't put any other liquid in this loaf? ~ She usually puts some water in.

Nick ~ Mrs S#2 says you need to get a breadmaker!

I prefer doing it by hand

We haven't bought shop bread for years. If I had to make it by hand every time we wanted bread then I'd never get round to it. Hand baked bread only happens on Sunday and only then if no other baking is occuring.

Anyone have a recipe for moist hot cross buns? Mr Wench told me yesterday that mine are like cannon balls.  sad32:

Yes the Kitchen Staff say hang on a minute she'll get the recipe out just as soon as she has finished sewing this red flower to a fairy's head.

DON'T ASK!
