Its small beans compared to the rest of the waste of taxpayer's money this government is guilty of but who the hell told Mandy it was acceptable to spend £2000 a month of flowers for his department and does it come out of the £115,000 a year the Government happily forks out for plants for its departments.

If they are going to fork out that much on plantlife then they can have ferkin' Triffids!!

There's a couple of guys who stand on the dual carriageway at "Five Ways Corner" on the A41 selling roses ~ £3 for 10 blooms or a fiver for two bunches. They are there every evening from about 3pm until the rush is over. I suggest Mandy sends his driver up there with a tenner to keep the office smelling sweet.

LORD Mandelson was his usual mixture of mischief and menace yesterday when he introduced the Postal Services Bill.
The "shrill" opposition to his proposals was putting off private firms potentially interested in buying a minority stake in the Royal Mail, he claimed.
Is this true?
I put in a quick call to Dutch firm TNT, the front-runner to buy part of the postal group.
Its press officer told me the firm was still interested in a "strategic partnership" and this position had not changed despite the intensity of the debate over here.
