I have a Ford Fusion 3 - seats five (proper belts) and has big boot.

Similar to this:

But then I'm not worried about image

Over 3  years old? How's the steering wheel then?

Still attached.  rubschin:

Xsara

And when you reach my age you'll want to feel 25 again too.  sad24:

Parting with my beloved 5 series BMW Tourer and going into a Vauxhall Zafira was a big wrench I can tell you

I may be younger, yes, but trendy image statements of youth are way over my head now. I look for practicality, performance, economy, and the wolf in sheeps clothing look meself like. happy088

Struggling to think of exactly....or even roughly.... what you're thinking of tbh. confused:
Freelander TD4 with the new Eco drive system from next March/April p'raps, for that.... 'rugged outdoor type' look p'raps? eeek:
Fine car now.

Yes yes yes Nick U.M. ::)

Is the so called  'leather' still attached to it? BIG problems with them and the Fiesta's after 30/40k and /or 3/4 years that's all. Bastard to fix, and Fomoc will not honour any claim on them, as they put it down to 'fair wear and tear'....my arse. cussing:

Most cars threaten to carry five but on closer inspection the one in the middle at the back is sitting on a hump and their feet are spread either side of a "tunnel" in the floor. The Picasso was the only car I found that didn't have these problems. It also has a flat boot. No lip, which is handy when sliding things in or out (cue for Nick to make a comment). All in all it answers all the requirements except that it is an "Old Man's" motor and visibilty is crap. The pillars either side of the windscreen are f'ing huge and there are blindspots. Also I find the seats uncomfortable for a long drive and that despite all the possible adjustments.

Image is hard to define~ one likes to feel that one looks "cool" in TG terms.

Landrover Defender would suit nicely given what I tend to do in the car and where I live but way out of price range.
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

'52 reg vgc low mileage.

The steering wheel's fine. Only problem is the window trim which worked loose and nearly flew off on the motorway recently. I have a friend with a similar model and she lost her trim completely.

That's the point you see ~ I don't want to look "Cool" ~ I don't give a toss what other people think I look like. I want to feel "Cool"

OK who, in their heads, actually thinks they look the way the mirror tells them they look. Very few of us are that honest with ourselves. When I get behind the wheel I want to feel like Joe Cool. When I push the pedal down I want a response. Not just speed but a gut feeling that I am MOTORING.

BM ~ You go Off Roading ~ Do you see yourself as you really are or, whilst driving like that, do you not feel a bit excited by it all, out of your usual comfort zone, a bit James Bondish, in other words COOL?

Isn't there a bit of The Fonz in all of us?

Even he still thinks he looks like this

Rather than like this:
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

And it made him feel more comfortable. I don't see the problem.
You tend to wear a scruffy beard ~ why? Because you can't be arsed with shaving or because you like the look? Does it makes you feel good about yourself? It is part of what makes you what you want to think the world sees you as. FFS do you not understand what I am saying? Banghead
