So stop worrying.

<serious mode off>

Anyone fancy a rock cake?

Not worrying at all. Quite looking forward to the reaction of the great British public when we are told NOT to panic tbh. scared:

The possibility of panic due to the impending doom is serious and relevant to the subject, so how does that constitute a derailment?

Seriously, when this Planet X becomes (alledgedly) visible in the sky in May 2010, I can forsee quite serious problems arising if the media start whipping up hysteria....as they've been known to do...for OUR benefit of course. ::)

If a large and mysterious planetary object appeared in the sky and seemed to be hurtling towards us I don't think even the Daily Mail could do additionally much to "whip up hysteria"

Sorry Growler. That was aimed at Snoopy's post but your one slipped in between.

The point is that Planet X won't appear in the skies in 2010.

You are SUPPOSED to be an intelligent man so I've been led to believe.

Planet X is currently 'hiding' behind the sun and approaching at several hundreds of thousands of mph, and is...apparently...already just visible from the far southern hemisphere...alledgedly, but will become more prevelant to us all in May 2010...so 'they' say.

For the benefit of Nick, it's NOT going to collide with Earth, but pass very close to the sun....so rumour has it.....and THAT is going to cause monsterously large disturbances on the sun that will have the effect of boiling us all to death.....very very slowly.
Seas will boil dry and the planet will be void of all useful life, which means the present government will survive.

I'm sure I watched a sci fi film about the sun swallowing up the earth slowly, many years ago. Quite scary iirc. scared2:

Who are 'they' Growler?

from the Wikipedia article on IRAS (Infrared Astronomical Satellite )

Quote
The observatory also made headlines briefly with the discovery of an "unknown object" that was at first described as "possibly as large as the giant planet Jupiter and possibly so close to Earth that it would be part of this solar system."[1] However, further analysis revealed that, of several unidentified objects, nine were distant galaxies and the tenth was "intergalactic cirrus".[2] None were found to be Solar System bodies.[2]

'they' are fruitcakes and not the edible kind either.
