I didn't mean tongue literally...I meant ' a tongue lashing from the wife, girlfriend etc' aka 'tongue pie'

I didn't like to say that 'cos I don't know where he is from.
It's certainly not an expression I've heard in Hampshire and I was married to a Yorkshire Lass for 20 years and never heard it there either. Current wife is an Essex girl ~ again no clue from her, she grew up in Scotland due to her Father's work and has some Scottish expressions but not that one.........
rubschin: I am beginning to think North East here but he doesn't type with a Geordie accent like some I could mention.

Well it's not  a London expression or West Country or West Midlands based either.

Between us we can track him down  rubschin:

I can rule out North Wales and Manchester. I have also lived in Hereford, Hertford and Hampshire and whilst hurricanes hardly ever happen there I've not come across that expression. Lived in Swindon, Ipswich, Bedfordshire, London, and Milton Keynes and again not heard it any of those places. 'Bout the only place SWWLTBO and I have not lived either seperately or together has been the North East so that's where my money goes on this one.

Correction SWWLTBO has lived in the North East with her first husband

The plot thickens.
