Umbrella Bags
« on: April 23, 2008, 11:57:33 AM »
There was a stand at the entrance to the building this morning holding umbrella bags. I've never heard of them before but they are for putting your wet umbrella in to stop it dripping on the floor. A dripping umbrella could cause a slipping hazard apparently .

Is this more health and safety madness or a good idea?

(I didn't use one)

What's wrong with an old fashioned elephant's foot?
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

You can't leave you umbrella by the door because it will get nicked!

And no one keeps the covers that they come with so I think this is a splendid plan.

I've had a message from the building manager asking that we encourage our staff to use them so I guess the uptake wasn't that great this morning.

Won't these bags need other bags to store them in (safely)?

The sale pitch:

Say goodbye to unsightly and unsafe wet floors by using our Wet Umbrella Bags during rainy or snowy conditions.. The bags are packed 1,000 bags per case in a safe, easy-open carton that eliminates any need for cutting by your store personnel... Our free-standing dual dispensers can be conveniently placed at each entrance to help ensure the bags are available for every customer... Your customers will appreciate your thoughtfulness while your safety team and insurance agent will applaud your proactive stance...
