Printer Problem
« on: March 09, 2008, 11:34:29 AM »
Does anybody have a clue on my farking printer?

To recap, I have two printers.

1) A networked HP Business InkJet 2300
2) A USB connected HP DeskJet 5740

I set the Business InkJet to be the default but it continually changes back to the DeskJet.

It didn’t do this before I changed the PC so I know it can work as I want it to.

Why the fuck won’t it?  Banghead

Order it all online. Think of those warp powered processors, load of RAM, colossal hard drives, ultra fast graphics cards.

That massive flat monitor, stylish keyboards and mice. Designer cases, working hi-tech printers.

Go for it. LL will understand.

You know you want to.  lol:

I’m going to end up unplugging the wanking DeskJet ‘till I need it I ‘spec…  noooo:

I just unplugged the DeskJet, re-booted and it still changed the default to be the DeskJet!  Banghead

I’ve now deleted it… Perhaps if I leave it a few days it will forget all about it… as though it never existed… prolly...  noooo:

I eventually solved my similar problems by never hitting the print button but by going to File, Print and selecting from the options offered (which included printers long dead until I got round to buying the new PC and didn't bother to install those I no longer have). I have a Samsung SCX4200 laser (B&W obviously) that also scans and photocopies) that is new and a HP Stylus 680 colour inkjet that is yonks old. Both are installed on the new PC and I use the options as described.
Must admit that for most purposes the B&W Samsung is what I use .... both for economy and clarity. It suits better for the magazine. Only rarely do  print anything n colour. The old Samsung (which I have recently garaged pending finding it a new home) was very big, noisy and about 6 years old. Cost a bloody fortune at the time £600+ but did me 36,000 copies over the 6 years. This time I went cheaper (Well under a hundred) and am getting similar results qualitywise.
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

Vista installed both printers without a problem then?

That did impress me – it found all my bits ‘n pieces and downloaded appropriate drivers… Shame it has its own PDF reader built-in tho eh?  whistle:

There you go BM. Flatten all hard drives, throw anything over 2 years old into the skip.

Install clean copies of Vista and all will be well.  cloud9:

You can afford it.  eyes:
