Thinking about it… claiming to have been educated in ‘The University of Life’ would probably be more prestigious…  noooo:

This stuff has an impact on my "work". I am presently in communication with the great and the good in the world of educashun about this and may impart some of their pearls of wisdom as they come to me.

I don't have a problem with vocational courses that are geared towards a particular job or career path. These seem to be an easy(?) way of gaining an academic qualification through the building up of 'units' gained via a glorified work experience route.

I doubt if universities will consider them sufficient for admission.

There are some links to the new "Diplomas" also being discounted by universities but being pushed heavily by the Govt.

You can just imagine the McAlevels exam questions

You serve a customer who orders a Big Mac Whopper McDog burger and pays £5. Do you:

a) Give £1.50 change
b) Give £1.75 change
c) Ask if he want fries with that.

 Banghead

Didn’t they (this pathetic ‘government’) announce the other day that cookery lessons would be compulsory in schools?

Do you think there is a link here, abolish all higher-education establishments and anybody that can’t get shoe-horned into a job by daddy when they are 16 are straight off to McShite to continue their edukashun – already pre-trained on how to flip a burger?

Maybe but I can see another problem here. The announcement about teaching cooking in schools is supposed to be part of the Government's so called strategy to combat obesity. So giving kids A levels in flipping burgers kind of torpedoes that doesnt it?

Except they’ll be slaving away for a pittance at the new McUniversity so they won’t be able to afford (or face prolly) the burgers…  whistle:

Indeed:

Quote
Fewer than four in 10 university admissions officers see the vocational Diploma as a "good alternative" to A-levels, a survey suggests

I noticed this from the same article:

Quote
The first courses will be in construction, engineering, health, IT and media.

No mention of the fast-food indusry.
