I suspect that these diplomas are going to be mainly for people on benefits, dont get a job on go on one of these half assed training courses and you lose our payments.

Its an ill conceived plan which has only been brought out to reduce spending and not to improve academic and vocational training.
The universe is run by the complex interweaving of three elements. Energy, matter, and enlightened self-interest.

I don't have a problem with vocational courses that are geared towards a particular job or career path. These seem to be an easy(?) way of gaining an academic qualification through the building up of 'units' gained via a glorified work experience route.

I doubt if universities will consider them sufficient for admission.

rather like the stars on their badges ?

It's quite plain that Unc has never visited the Golden Arches then!

Mickey D's employees get stars on their badges. I don't think they're for customer service, more a sort of long service thing (since McD have little idea of what constitutes customer service).
"Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

Well, someone had to say it!
