Indeed! I don't need it either, I can manage fine on my private pensions.

Should I not claim it?

Of course, there is the delay it a year and get more munny option but that's just an extra 5.8% for every year you delay which means you have to live another 17 years for each year delayed just to break even.

And if you don't need the money you could donate it to charity, political causes or even the Pay Apey's bar bill fund

Meantime my forecast is:
Quote
Estimate based on your National Insurance record up to 5 April 2017
£142.94 a week
which thanks to the 'new state pension' idiocy is ~ £17 more a week than I planned on getting and seems I can boost it by another £5 a week if I send them about £750 now - seems a no brainer

Like you though, it's my private pensions that'll really keep me in Pizzas and beer
Well, whatever, nevermind

They've never asked me for a penny. We brought them up to be independent.

IIRC that's the maximum now

I was contracted out and had 3 years missing as I retired early and left it too late to pay voluntaries for those years.
Well, whatever, nevermind

Also didn't realise you had to apply for it ...thought they would just know who you are , how old you are, where you live ( based on all your previous NI / tax contributions) and just would check for your bank account details.

I like a simple world  noooo: sad24:

Well they knew enough to send me the invitation  ;D

They're all joined up in government these days, when I upgraded my driving licence they asked for my passport number and just used the photo they had on file.

So they know what you look like  eeek:
