I suspect a combination of poor maintenance on the rotation device and inadequate training before letting some clueless berk fire it for the first time

It's just not a gun+mount suitable for that use.

It's just not a gun+mount suitable for that use.

Yes, having re-watched it the gun is offset to the mount so it is fairly obvious what effect the recoil would have!

I once got to fire a helicopter gatling gun on a range *.  It was seriously bolted down

* About 30 of us on a factory tour of an arms factory put our names in a hat and I won.  Only raffle I've been glad to win, sadly because it was a controlled site no video or photos allowed.
