One week left of this season ….

Counting down the days?

Oh yes ,been OK..but no progression either financially nor personally …

So it starts … .

A bride has booked us direct ..paid in full …..her planner (who knows us ) ..has advised her that we should go 2 hours earlier …  

I have politely asked who is paying ..

So tonight a loud guy comes up and shouts a request ..saying it will fill the dance floor ….I say .” No it won’t “

He says “ if no one’s dances I’ll give you twenty quid “ ……….


Long story short …..I am twenty quid up …



Not one single person danced ….

There's an easy rule to learn to know what will fill a dance floor:

ask a DJ and don't look down your nose at what they choose

Exactly …when people send a full night of music ..I wonder why they don’t just have an iPad etc …?

Notice more these days ..the bride and or groom ..just pick THEIR songs with no consideration for their guests ….have even had a few Brides saying …”No requests allowed from guests “….!…!..

And don't get me on music people pick for their funerals, Mrs K has opined that McCartney's Frog Chorus would make her smile from within the casket.  My brother picked Neil Young's Rocking in the Free World - a great track but not great for then.

After the first dance etc …there are special songs that nearly all DJs use ..Whitney .dance with somebody ..ABBA dancing Queen …etc …again there is a reason ..non offensive. Fairly inclusive ..and most people know them ..!..even Johnny foreigners ..!..and when the blokes are pissed ..Mr Brightside …

So 6 years or so ago ….had a phone call from Uk from a guy who I knew ..his parents lived here and he visited a lot ..( 15 years ago they did karoake here ) …asking me if he moved here full time ,could I give him Dj work …I said yes but couldn’t promise how much ..but would use him …

Anyhoo , he moved here …1st year I gave him loads of work …second year ..he says “I want XYZ euros “ ..I explain I can’t pay that ..we remained friends but rarely used him ….

Found out tonight ..he is moving back to UK at end of year as he doesn’t get enough work …

I will msg him and see how much he wants for his van ..
