FIFTY SEVEN just comes within the standard GROWLER number pronouncing tolerances, OK? 
No, you have lost the plot...

The point the OP was making was that we DO pronounce the whole number (fifty seven) when five seven would be simpler.
Yet on big numbers we say one five seven instead of one hundred and fifty seven - which is logical.
Or have I missed the point of the OP?
