Microwave heating categories
« on: May 04, 2011, 11:36:05 AM »
We have just had an all singing , all dancing microwave installed in our kitchen at work today.

There are a vast array of categories to chhose from when heating food...steamer, pizza, popcorn , meat , fish etc etc etc.

Does anybody ever use these ? noooo:

Surely you just need a normal or defrost function and then the level of blast  ( low , medium or high) ???

What more should a microwave do  whacky115

Wot!!! No setting marked "Setting a dishcloth on fire"?

To answer in a semi-serious mode ... Yes we used to have 2 such microwaves in the pub and yes we did use the settings but that was a commercial kitchen where the cook/chef is trying to prepare up to 25 meals at a time .... some things are pre-prepared and others have to be done from first principles. Not having to faff about setting a microwave was a great boon as one was also trying to fry off chips, grill steaks (to different requirements between raw and cremated), heat pasties, fry an omelet for the compulsory vegetarian in any given group etc ..... all to go to the table at the same time.
Whether you need such in your work place is questionable but it does allow for the idiots among your staff who can't even boil an egg without a recipe book and should stop them asking you every f'ing time "How long should I give this?" as they wave some execrable plastic wrapped offering under your nose.....

In totally serious mode I'm willing to bet it won't last 6 months before some arse breaks it.
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

How does the microwave know it has all finished popping?

Is there a microphone in it?
