"Calm down dear"

Depending on whether you're Conservative or Labour it was either just a "humorous remark" or " sexist and patronising"

Personally I think the Labour party should get a sense of humour.

And Angela Eagle did need to calm down.

"Today" have trotted out the usual female journalists from the "serious" papers to condemn the remark as "sexist", "patronising" etc. Meanwhile, never slow to jump on a band wagon, Michael Winner says it is a fun remark, made famous by him, that is widely used by both sexes.

It is absolutely appauling that a man , in such a powerful, influential and public position, esteemed by colleagues and a role model to a whole generation,  should denigrate the feamle of the species with his patronising and soothing tones , much to the amusement of his public school toss pot mates.
