Today the THW took her application for Student Finance to school and asked the Head of the Sixth Form to countersign it as a "Responsible Adult" who has known her for more than two years.
He refused as she did not bring with it her Birth Certificate and Passport.
He is the person who, a year ago, signed both her passport application and accompanying photograph certifying that he was a responsible adult, not related to her, who had known her for at least two years. He did not at that time see her Birth Certificate.
I told her that he needed to see neither but she, in tears, insisted that he did.
I suggested they both read the form.
She called again to say he was still refusing to sign it without sight of the two documents. She is nearly in hysterics.
I pointed out that since she has a passport no-one is interested in her Birth Cert as that only shows the date she was born, an address in Ipswich where the "happy" event occurred and my then occupation and her parents names. All a matter of both public and school records which the school have on file from when she joined them 7 years ago. Her passport involved gaining his signature, a certified photograph, her birth cert and a half hour interview to prove she was who she said she was. He has since been on three trips abroad with her and her fellow classmates.
She is still crying and asking me to take them to the school
I dug out, from her
bedroom sty both documents and drove to the school, met her at the gates and gave them to her. She begged me not to go into the school to speak to him so I came home.
Half an hour later I texted her and asked "Is he now satisfied?"
She replied "Yes, he has signed the form and says 'Sorry I misread the form'"
I have since phoned him and told him he is an arse and that I have spoken to The Student Finance Manager at the LEA who agrees with my opinion of him
He hung up on me.
