Minimum Price on Alcohol

Quote
Plans for a minimum price for alcohol in England and Wales are to be announced by ministers.
Shops and bars will be prevented from selling drinks for less than the tax they pay on them.
The minimum pricing would work out at 38p for a can of weak lager and £10.71 for a litre bottle of vodka.

Most Politicians, some Police Chiefs and Doctors Representatives seem to think this is the way to control "binge" drinking.

Will it work or is it just more useless posturing by the "Nanny State"?

It is bound to work.

Look how the high price of drugs has kept their use down.

Waste of freaking time - why don't they just use existing laws to prosecute those that get out of hand when pissed-up? Shrugs:

Its simple

1. Fine the hell out of people who get pissed and out of hand
2. Anyone who has been admitted to hospital with a drink related injury gets breathalysed. If they are over a certain limit charge them for their treatment.

The universe is run by the complex interweaving of three elements. Energy, matter, and enlightened self-interest.
