SWWLTBO gets about 350 miles out of a tankful. The Land Rover (diesel) will give around 450 miles to the tank. Both give something like 25 miles fewer to the fill up if we use Supermarket fuel (as previously discussed).
Fortunately I don't do many miles in a week but Her Ladyship eats 'em up.

4/9 a gallon when I started driving .... that's about 22.5 pence in this new fangled money so price per litre would have been 04.9 pence.

Think I'll buy a pony and trap.

I think it was 50p a gallon when I started driving...

Mind you, it was only CY£0.2 per litre when we moved to Cyprus... the EU changed all that of course....  noooo:

Every so often I get to point where I balk at the cost of petrol. The last couple of times has cost me over £40 whereas previously it seemed to be about £30-£35. But in the end I figure what choice do I have? and just get used to the cost again.

The government knows that of course - which is why 85% of it is tax...  noooo:

That's what they rely on Uncle .... I do have a bus pass but they can't get my Mobility Scooter on the bus so when I get to the end of the journey I just have to sit in the bus depot and wait for a returning bus to get me home again. Pointless!

I could "borrow" a mobility scooter from the shopping centre but their office is half a mile from the bus depot.  Banghead

And those Model T's went for miles on just the one tank.  whistle:

Anyhoo...

Petrol is still remarkably cheap when you think about it (tax excluded of course)...

To think they can pump it out from the bottom of the ocean, ship it half way round the world, refine it and then deliver it to your local confiscation petrol station for 20p a litre and still make billions in profit is quite remarkable... worthy:

My village has a couple of buses a day. Harlow or Epping. So, foe example, how do I get my sprogs to school in Ware?

I don't do many miles p.a. but I need to do them.

Indeed!

We used to live in Bengeo, when the THW was a baby. Lovely family walk down through the common, along the river to Ware for a pint and then toddle back home again.

I like Ware, it has a nice unhurried feel about it. Pleasant river walks, proper high street with lots of old buildings. Even the Tescos is tucked away out of sight. I'd happily move there but the ex got in first.

Many years ago I had a contract in Ware. Mrs Nick would call me to ask where I was. It always ended in a row  noooo:
