Well that's series 1 finished

The Mrs K verdict;  "bloody hell, that was brilliant"    Twas good too

I watched 5 last night...

...it is like a poor remake of Homeland...  lol:
My have to look to see where I can watch Homeland then

Update:  seems episode 1 will cost me 10p on Amazon Prime.  Sounds like a plan

There are seven series of Homeland...  whistle:
Series 1-4 available on DVD for £14 so IF the pilot is any good . . . . .

Ryan had the advantage that we've read most of the original books (they got crap towards the end)  so it was interesting to see how they'd woven key characters and plotlines into a current day setting.  We'll watch series 2

Well, whatever, nevermind

In all honesty if they are going to make more TV shows/films based on Tom Clancy novels then they should adapt Rainbow 6. As much as I enjoy reading the Jack Ryan stories I always found John Clark to be a far more interesting character.
The universe is run by the complex interweaving of three elements. Energy, matter, and enlightened self-interest.

Conversely Rainbow 6 was where we stopped reading them.  I found it a very shallow read betraying much about Clancy's extreme right wing views whereas his Ryan character was a far deeper far more nuanced character

And surely Ding was more interesting than Clark
Well, whatever, nevermind

I liked the concept behind Rainbow 6, the complexities of setting up a multinational counter terrorism unit recruiting from special forces groups all over the world would have had a myriad of complexities that could have been explored with follow on stories. I always thought that Clark was the Mr Hyde to Ryan's Dr Jekyll, the jaded, cynical dark side of Ryan that was more willing to go in and do whatever it took to get the job done. I will say though that Ding is a good character and I have enjoyed how he's been shown to grow and develop under Clark's wing which is another good reason why a Rainbow 6 series could work, not to mention that it easily leads into another franchise as you can have Ding take over Rainbow and Clark joining the Campus after being forced out of the CIA.

For reasons I don't understand Clark per se doesn't appear in the Jack Ryan series, a very similar character called Matice does instead
