I don't know if you're able to get Channel 4 out there Barman, and I know he's not your cup of tea, but 1930hr's tonight, "Guy Martin's Spitfire"... Guy Martin joins the two-year restoration of a Spitfire that was buried in a French beach for decades, and tells the Boy's Own-style story of its pilot, Squadron Leader Geoffrey Stephenson
Started watching The Great War Interviews last night....Watched just about an hour of the five hours.... will watch again tonight....It is a series of interviews with WW1 veterans and civilians filmed in the 1960s....Not only are the stories amazing, but it has a very simple format....B & W film, sit in front of the camera and tell your story.... there is obviously a little editing and cutting but not a great deal.... just people telling their stories...Amazing! One of the things that strikes you is just how much more effective it is than the current fashion for about 36 different camera shots, chopped in and out like a strobe effect with at least one 'hand held' camera wobbling about for some effect that I simply can't understand....Bastards!
