Why oh why do you pay ~£300 to be treated like freaking cattle at Heathrow...? Shrugs:

You are greeted at 'Departures' by an archetypical Muslim extremist with a beard and prolly concealed explosives who demands to know if you have 'Any liquids innit?'....

Then you are herded through the cattle run to the point of your humiliation where you practically have to strip naked...

Bastards!  cussing:

For the next month, the government is also suspending the carriage of printer toner cartridges heavier than 500g in passengers' hand baggage on flights departing from UK airports, or their shipping as cargo unless they are handled by a company with government-approved security arrangements.

God knows what they are going to make our your Mini assembly kit both in the hand, hold and freight luggage  whistle:

I actually laughed out loud when I heard that on the news this morning.

I also read this morning that the US security test airports by sending through dummy bombs and components. 75% got past.  eeek:

Leg Iron summed up the toner cartridge farce quite well I thought...  lol:

Quote from: Leg-Iron
If you were getting on a flight with a laser-printer toner cartridge, the security people will definitely want to look at it because only a total dolt would want to lug that around departures for hours. Why would anyone have one? They are not much use without a laser printer and if you think a leaky pen in your shirt pocket is a disaster, wait till you experience a toner leak in your carry-on bag. Does this spell the end for the hand-delivered toner cartridge business? No. Because there isn't one. Printer cartridges travel by air freight, not as passengers.

I would doubt that anyone has ever had a 500g toner cartridge in their carry-on luggage for any flight anywhere. If they did, I would bet that security would show quite a bit of interest in such an unusual item.

This is it. This is the bottom of the barrel scraped clean through and all the underlying soil removed right down to the bedrock. This is the knee-jerk to end all knee-jerks.

They are now banning things that don't happen.

Seriously, I am worried about the implications - I was hoping to fly into the UK with a Mini body panel and a crankshaft... I will be flying back with a whole load of bits... it will end in tears I 'spec...  noooo:

If it's a Mini, better get a move on. By the time you get the last bits, the first lot will have rusted away

He has no need to be...

He is right IMHO... imagine the thousands and thousands of people at airports these past weeks taking off their shoes, having their trousers fall down cos they have to remove their belts, taking their laptops out of their cases... And the bloody terrorists just popped the bombs in the post!  ::)

1) Ordered the wrong bit - taking it back for a credit
2) Crankshaft is FUBAR - exchanging it for a new unit
