Call me an old cynic

Why have I already found these two guilty? rubschin:

British girls in Ghana on cocaine charges 'set up'
-- ----------------------------------------------------

Two British teenage girls arrested in Ghana for allegedly carrying cocaine worth ?300,000 have claimed they were "set up" to carry the drugs back to England.

Speaking by telephone from prison in Accra, 16-year-old Yasemin Vatansever told Channel 4 News they were tricked into carrying drugs back to London.

She claimed: "There were basically two boys over here who gave us two bags, and told us to bring it (that) it was an empty bag. "

She continued: "The two boys gave us bags in Ghana to bring to London, to give to the boy in London."

"It was basically like a set up. They didn't tell us nothing, we didn't think nothing, cos basically we are innocent".

"We don't know nothing about this drugs and stuff, we don't know nothing."

You?re an old cynic!

Of course, you?d be delighted to bring an ?empty? bag back to the UK for somebody wouldn?t you ? no questions asked!

Yasemin

That was the critical word that should swing the evidence towards the prosecution.

WTF were two sixteen year old girls doing out in Ghana ....presumably on their own.... anyway?
Parents comments to follow at a press conference no doubt, god help us. ::)
Have Bono and Sting been placed on standby yet for a pending 'Free Yasmin and her mate' concert?

Where do they live please?
In true scouse tradition I'm obliged to take some Sainsburys garage forecourt flowers down and tie them to the washing machine that is currently undergoing vandalism in their front garden.

I'll set up a web site for you all to leave sincere messages of hope and sympathy if you like..like...basically.

?Where shall we go this year Yasemin, Ayia Napa again or Ghana??

You?re right, the only possible reason two 16 y/o could have for choosing Ghana is to smuggle back a suitcase full of drugs!  point:

The bit you all seem to be missing, is that they were nicked in Ghana for bringing drugs out of the country.

Obviously the 'two boys' story could be true, as no proper smuggler would risk his merchandise without 'insuring' it properly with the authorities.
I mostly despair

Apparently they had told their parents they were going on a school trip to France. Odd that their parents didn't check this!

P'raps the plane drivers Tom Tom was faulty.
It does happen you know, and you say I'M cynical.

 rubschin: No, I suggested that didn't I. ::)

Anyway p'raps the parents simply misheard them. Ghana does sound BASICALLY a bit like France...dunnit.

I think the sentence in Ghana is 10 years.

The fun will start when they arrive back 'home' empty handed and met by some nice guy asking where his investment has got to...

I'm sure they will all be friends and come to a happy conclusion.. cloud9:

I believe the 10 years to be a minimum term in Ghana. I think death may be preferable to a stretch in an African jail anyway.

Having just spent a week incarcerated in hospital (with all mod cons), I can?t imagine how crazy I would be if I was deprived of my liberty for much longer than that? The thought of being stuck in as foreign jail with minimal western facilities would certainly weigh on my mind when somebody asked me to courier their ?empty? suitcase for them?   scared2:
