Worry not Pastis I used to have some of these WTF for I do not know but it seemed like a good idea at the time.

It is indeed an egg coddler and I did use it once or twice but could not tell the difference between coddled eggs and boiled eggs and they were fiddly to clean.  Chucked them out years ago.
