. Designed to assist a clear view of hidden oncoming traffic it should be a boon to road safety, I guess.

I've tried to use it (no, not the one in the picture). Because of the distortion and 'extra' information I can see about twenty parked cars on both sides of the road, overhanging trees, road signs, lamp posts, front gardens, pedestrians and somewhere in the middle a thin fillet of tarmac which, depending of the light and time of day, hovers in and out of view.
It's a mess. Yesterday, I glanced upwards to see if anything was coming the other way... only a second or two, trying to distinguish the stationary from the moving and yes, you've guessed it... nearly hit an oncoming car whose driver was probably doing the same.
I fear it might have to disappear... at dead of night... probably...
