Having been a fan of the original (which I notice some younger critics are now slagging off in the "Sundays") I decided to give the new one a miss as I felt "they" would never be able to recreate the atmosphere of the times and I don't want an all time favourite memory spoiled.
I gather they have "up-dated" it but the critics don't like it so perhaps I made a wise choice for once.

For much the same reasons I have avoided the three latest "Star Wars" movies.

Living where I do Portmeirion is an easy afternoon trip out. I find I am looking over my shoulder the whole time we are there. SWWLTBO, who is too young to have seen the original said I was mad ~ until that is the original was repeated a year or so back. She admitted that having watched it that maybe I'm not so barmy after all.
The Village hasn't changed much.

Do they use that 'device' in the new series?   I once took a girlfriend on a day out to Portmeirion  eyes:

It is known as "Rover" and I understand it has been retained in the new series.
