Laptop Chargers
« on: January 09, 2010, 12:35:02 PM »
It would appear that The Brat's laptop charger is fecked  ( again  evil: )

She has had this laptop for about 18 months - 2 yrs and this is the 2nd charger.

1st Question - how long is a charger meant to last ?

2nd Question - why are they not a universal size ? , she could use the ones I have for my work laptop then instead of having to fork out money I haven't got at the moment.

Computer accesories etc are a complete rip off  evil:

They should last forever. She must be gubbing it in some way. And yes, cables are extortionately priced  cussing:

You can buy "universal" chargers, but working out which adapter to use can be very confusing.

Chargers should last for at least 5 years (basic laptop life) - if it breaks, take it back, not fit for purpose etc.

Mrs DS (#3) has a laptop where the little switch thing that turns the screen light on (like the fridge door) got stuck down.

You could hold it up to a bright light and just see the stuff on the screen but not back lit.

A bit of prodding with a paperclip fixed the switch. Worth a look.

I mostly despair
