So far the eyes are holding up. No change in specs prescription in 10 years. I was given a talking book recently. Listened to the first chapter and fell asleep  redface:

Sony pioneered Betamax but later were foced to produce VHS machines...

I read once that the reason VHS won was that the recording equipment was cheaper and the American porn industry favoured it for that reason.

My money would be on MP3 - it is an 'open' standard and doesn't require proprietary software (iTunes) to use...
